Crt dismisses Defense Ministry’s 49.7 bln rbl appeal against UAC

MOSCOW, Sep 7 (PRIME) -- The Moscow District Arbitration Court has upheld the decision of a lower court to recover 20 million rubles from the United Aircraft Corporation on the Defense Ministry’s 49.7 billion ruble suit, PRIME learned from the court’s materials on Tuesday.

The court dismissed the ministry’s appeal on Tuesday.

A source familiar with the situation told PRIME that the recovery sum was originally set at 150 million rubles and later changed to 20 million by the court of appeals.

The Ministry of Defense demanded that the defendant pay a penalty for violating the deadline for work under a 2013 state contract for servicing and repairing aircraft for the Navy and the Air Force. This is the largest lawsuit ever brought by the Defense Ministry in a Russian court.
